By the methods of questionnaire and investigation, the article discusses the status quo of the sports for the mentally retarded in Taiwan, including the number of athletic, recreational and academic activities, the number of participants with different background, the financial assistance to these activities, etc. It puts forward some suggestions for the development of the sports for the mentally retarded in the 21st century.
