The article introduces the concept of African martial arts from the angle of African culture, depicts the understanding of the Africans toward combat skill and puts forward the concept of "Wu, Wu, Wu", namely a trinity of combat, witchcraft and dance, which is the core of African martial arts. It briefly compares the two concept of African martial arts and Chinese martial arts so as to reveal the similarity and dissimilarity of the two and understand the Chinese culture and African culture better. At last, the article briefly introduces some representative combat skills in African martial arts such as engolo. dambe, laamb, donga and Zulu stick fighting. |
