Based on the theory and logic of building a sports capital of the world, as well as an analysis of the gap between Shanghai and other international sports cities, this paper put forward ideas and measures of building Shanghai into an international sports city. It is held that sports events bring powerful driving forces for a city to develop new economy, boost social vitality, enhance soft power, and promote sustainable revival. In the process of building Shanghai as a city of international sports events, there still exist some gaps, such as global sports city ranking, sports event system, sports event level and sports event localization. On the basis of the Outline for the Construction of Shanghai World Famous Sports City, the paper puts forward the development goals of the year 2025, 2035 and 2050, which will be realized from the following aspects: strengthening the cooperation with international sports organizations, improving the layout of sports events, coordinating the allocation of sports events resources, increasing the support for local sports events, and implementing strategies of promoting the integrated sports development in the Yangtze River Delta. |
