| Using the method of literature study, the article elaborates on the current status of the development of the city marathons in China and summarizes the characteristics of the city marathon races. It concludes that marathon plays a pivotal role in promoting sports consumption, enhancing industry development, establishing city brand, carrying forward city culture, responding actively to Mass Fitness Program and constructing a healthy city. Since the city marathon races in China are developing at a tremendous speed, it is necessary to make greater efforts in event operation, i.e., upgrading both the quantity and quality of the race, reshaping "runner culture" and pursuing the scientification of mass fitness and the value with public benefit as its core. |
