This study attempts to expound the theory of Taekwondo cultivation on the basis of Taoism in Tao Te Ching by Laozi. The so-called "Taoism" has the characteristics of "natural inaction", "no contest" and "simplicity". The "Daoism" with these characteristics can be used as the guideline for Taekwondo training. First, Taekwondo training based on the principle of "damage" should not chase the goals imposed by society or human beings. You should try to meet the requirements of the natural law through the "damage" training, so as to reduce your own injury risks, to make yourself return to the state of "Daoism", and to appreciate the essence of Taekwondo. Secondly, Taekwondo cultivation based on the principal of "harmony" requires you to let go, to understand the truth of the world and to be "uncontested", the attitude of which can help promote Taekwondo performance. Finally, Taekwondo training based on the principle "know the law and know the harmony" is to follow your own heart, protect yourself, abandon showy actions and competitive mentality. Only in this way can you understand the nature of the sport: to be defensive, and achieve the real goal of practising Taekwondo.
