      While HIIT is generally programmed intentionally to improve these specific physical characteristics, the important neuromuscular load that may be associated with performing some HIIT sequences should not be overlooked. The accurate programming of such diverse HIIT sequences is therefore a key consideration in team sports to avoid overload and/or to maintain an appropriate stimulus across the weekly training cycle. In this paper, we provide practical examples of how HIIT supplementation and integration can be used effectively within the weekly training cycle in the sport of soccer.
